Established in 1973, Chitwan National Park is Nepal’s first national park. Spanning (932 ext{ km}^2) in the subtropical Terai lowlands, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is renowned for its biodiversity. It is a premier sanctuary protecting the endangered Bengal tiger, the rare greater one-horned Asiatic rhinoceros, and numerous bird species.
