Madaba is a historic Jordanian city located just 30 km southwest of Amman. Known globally as the “City of Mosaics,” it is famous for its breathtaking Byzantine-era artwork, including the spectacular 6th-century mosaic map of the Holy Land housed in the Greek .  Centered around the Church of the Virgin Mary, this park preserves ancient street paving and stunning mosaic floors from multiple Byzantine and Umayyad churches      

The Madaba Mosaic Map depicts Jerusalem with the New Church of the Theotokos, which was dedicated on 20 November 542. Buildings erected in Jerusalem after 570 are absent from the depiction, thus limiting the date range of its creation to the period between 542 and 570. The mosaic was made by unknown artists, probably for the Christian community of Madaba, which was the seat of a bishop at that time. The Madaba Map: Housed inside the Greek Orthodox Church of Saint George, this 6th-century mosaic floor was constructed from over 2 million colored stones. It depicts biblical sites from Lebanon to the Nile Delta and includes the most detailed ancient depiction of Jerusalem. Madaba Archaeological Park: Spanning several historical areas, this open-air museum preserves the remnants of several Byzantine churches, streets, and well-preserved floor mosaics. You can reach Madaba from different ways like there are direct flights, direct trains as well as direct buses services available for Madaba. BY Air : Madaba does not have its own airport. Travelers fly into Queen Alia International Airport (AMM) in Amman, which is the primary gateway to the city. The airport is located about (18 ext{ km}) northeast of Madaba, and the journey takes about 30 to 40 minutes by taxi or car. A passport with a validity of at least six months and a visa are required for entry into Jordan. BY Taix :  Buses from Amman's Tabarbour Station cost 1.20 JD (Oct 2018).
